Mike Kabanica Scholarship Questions

Each year WYSA grants six scholarships to graduating seniors who portray commitment and excellence in their high school years; beginning with the 2018 graduating class, each scholarship winner will be awarded $1,000. This scholarship fund is named for Mike Kabanica, a long time WSA president. In order to apply, candidates must be a current year member of WYSA and a graduating high school senior. Three young women and three young men are selected based on their dedication to the sport of soccer, excellence in the classroom as well as their involvement in community service.

The 2018 winners were selected from a field of over 100 well-qualified applicants.

Kyle Baemmert | Kiel Soccer Club | Kyle attends Kiel High School and will be attending UW Stout to major in Environmental Science. Unsure of his career path after receiving his degree, Kyle is certain that he will have an active role in restoring, improving, and protecting the health of the Earth.

Aric Booth | Elmbrook United | Aric attends Waukesha West High School and has been directly admitted to the Business School at UW Madison. Already taking several collegiate courses in the field, Aric will be pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science. After college, Aric hopes to find employment with Northwestern Mutual but ultimately would like a career that provides him with the most challenging cases.

Alex Rouse | Regent Soccer Club | Alex attends Madison West High School and has committed to play soccer at Hamline University. Coaching throughout high school, Alex hopes that pursuing a business major and spending time studying abroad in Spain will assist him in the quest of becoming a professional coach.

Mackenzie Larsen | Kimberly Area Soccer Association | Mackenzie attends Appleton East High School and is deciding between Concordia University and University of Northwestern-St. Paul. Though Mackenzie is undecided on where she’ll study, she plans to study biology with the ultimate goal of becoming a Marine Biologist.
