The
Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association is pleased to announce
2006
Coaching Education Course Dates! Please
note: this information is being provided for informational
purposes only; 2006 course registration will be conducted
completely online following
the launch of our e-coaching system. The e-coaching
system is an interactive registration system allowing online
coaching clinic registration as well as individual coach
Risk Management registration for a state-issued coach pass
card. (Coaching clinic and individual coach registration
will only be accepted through the website following the
launch of this system.)

Coach Pass Cards
This
is a reminder to all coaches in possession of a state
issued coach pass card with an expiration date of 12.31.05. Your
coach pass card needs to be renewed for the additional
2-year period covering S2006-F2007.
Please
contact Bryan Flanagan to ensure timely receipt and
issuance of renewed coach pass cards.
Requirements
for renewing your coach pass card include:
- An
updated and completed coach risk management registration
form,
- Submission
of current coach pass card
- $10.00
registration fee (background check)
- Make
checks payable to “WI Youth Soccer” – Those
clubs that have directed the State to Invoice for
coach registration are still on file.
- Photos
are not required as we have current photos on file
for renewals (unless a registrant wishes to update
the photo)
If
you have successfully completed a coaching education
course and need to upgrade the license level indicated
on your pass card, please include a copy of the most
recent and highest certification/license level earned
along with the completed risk management form and $10.00
renewal/registration fee.

COMPLIANCE POLICY
Any person coaching a U10 and younger teams are required
to have, at minimum, a 'G' level coaching certificate.
Any person coaching a U11-U14 competitive and premier
level teams are required to have, at minimum, an 'E'
level coaching license.
Any person coaching U15 and older and premier level teams
are required to have, at minimum, a 'D' level coaching
license. All U15 and older classic coaches must have
an 'E' level coaching license.
The Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association
recognizes that the NSCAA National Diploma, Advanced
National Diploma and Premier Diploma (held for at least
12 months) satisfies the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association's
coaching credential requirements needed to obtain a coaching
pass.
FIRST: A coach possessing the NSCAA National
Diploma or higher does not receive a license from the Wisconsin
Youth Soccer Association but only fulfills the coaching
credential requirements.
SECOND: Holders of the NSCAA
National Diploma or above working with U6, U8 and U10
players are strongly encouraged to obtain a 'G' certificate
or State Youth license.
The Wisconsin Youth
Soccer Association’s Coaching
Department neither recognizes waivers nor waives any coaches
from obtaining the coaching credentials needed to obtain
a coach’s pass as per the guidelines established
by the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association's Board of Directors
effective August 1, 2003 (U10 and younger recreational
coaches - "G (Y)" Certificate, U11 to U14 Competitive
- "E" Certificate,U15+ classic coaches must have "E" Certificate
and U15+ Competitive - "D" License). However,
effective October 1, 2003 , Wisconsin Youth Soccer's Coaching
Department does release certain coaches (working with U12
teams or older) from the "E" Certificate prerequisite
for acceptance into the "D" License course if
they meet specific requirements. Coaches will be accepted
directly into the "D" License course and the "E" Certificate
prerequisite released, if they possess one of the following
qualifications:
1. Four years of collegiate playing experience
(proof required).
2. Two years of professional playing
experience (proof required).
3. Two years of high school
coaching or U15+ club coaching experience together with
a teaching certification (proof required).
Note: Coaches
with foreign coaching credentials should contact the
USSF directly for equivalency validation or acceptance
into USSF National Coaching License courses.
Coaches wishing
to be released from the "E" Certificate
prerequisite should submit their request in writing with
their 'D' course application and include a resume of their
playing & coaching experience (plus any supporting
documentation).
The Wisconsin
Youth Soccer Association and the USSF provide instruction
to any individual member regardless of their coaching or
playing background. The content of each course is arranged
progressively so that instruction relates to specific age
groups. Organized in the same manner as the U.S. Soccer
national coaching schools for the C, B and A license, the
state level courses are ‘Y1 Certificate’ (formerly ‘G’ Certificate), ‘Y2
Certificate’ (U9-U12), ‘E ‘Certificate
and ‘D’ License.
"A" License
Course
The "A" License course
curriculum teaches development and understanding of team
play and specific tactical concepts applied to a game
plan, i.e. , low pressure defending, counter-attack,
pressing, etc. , the ability to construct an appropriate
training session and coach within an 11v11 format, and
understanding of team-related issues such as player management
and match analysis.
Prerequisites: Candidates
must be 21 years old and have earned a National "B" License
(held for minimum of 12 months) and meets 3.2 Rule requirement.
"B" License
Course
The curriculum emphasis of the "B" License
course is the development of training that provides greater
meaning to positional play within the team structure
(functional training), improved understanding of the
roles of players and their responsibilities within the
game, and development of collective play within the various
lines of play as applied to tactics and concepts of play.
Prerequisites: Candidates
must be 19 years old and have earned a National "C" License
(held for minimum of 12 months) and meets 3.2 Rule requirement.
"C" License
Course
The "C" License course
provides continued instruction on the development of
individual skill taught within individual and small group
activities and games (4v4 to 7v7) and the understanding
and development of tactics through 4v4 to 9v9 games.
Additionally, this course is designed to train coaches
to observe mistakes and make appropriate corrections.
Prerequisites:
Candidates must be 18 years old and have earned a National "D" License
held for a minimum of 12 months
"D" License
Course
The "D" License course prepares coaches to further
develop their player’s technical abilities and their
application within the game and increases their understanding
of the Principles of Play and how they are applied in the
game. The course places considerable emphasis on the “Methods
of Coaching” and candidates are tested in their ability
to apply these in teaching fundamental techniques.
Prerequisites:
Candidates must hold "E" Certificate
or meet the “E” Certificate release requirements.
"E" License
Course
The "E" Certificate is
an 18-hour course targeted towards coaches teaching U10-U14
players. The course's major focus is preparing coaches
to enhance the technical competence of developing players.
Dribbling, heading, passing, shooting, receiving and
goalkeeping techniques are all addressed and small-sided
match related games are provided for coaches so that
they can create an enjoyable, but challenging learning
experience for players.
“Y2" Certificate
Course Organization:
- Maximum of 20 candidates
per instructor.
- Course length to be 5-6 hours.
- Host clubs
will be need to provide players for the afternoon/2nd
session.
Course Schedule:
- Course Opening/Coaching
U10 and U12 Players - 1 hour
- U10 Field Session - 1 hour
- U12 Field Session
- 1 hour
- Break - 1 hour
- Field Sessions for Candidates
with U10/U12 Players - up to 2 hours
P/C, Team Management and Modified Laws - 1 hour *

Candidates who have taken the “G” or “Y1" courses
do not need to attend the last session in the “Y2" Certificate
in order to pass this course .
**Candidates who complete both the “Y1" and “Y2" courses
will earn a State Youth License.
"Y1" Certificate
The "Y1" Certificate is
a 2 to 3 hour introductory course aimed at coaches working
with U6-U10 children playing recreational soccer. The course
exposes coaches to some of the bare essentials involved
in coaching young players. The traits of young players
are briefly discussed as well as a coaching checklist and
loads of appropriate activities. |
