Licensing Courses

Note: All scheduled courses have limits on the number of participants based on requirements regarding material covered, facilities and availability of instructional staff. Course registration will close when the maximum number of participants is reached or on the Registration End Date, whichever is earlier.

‘Y1’ Certificate $0 member/$100 nonmembers
The ‘Y1’ Certificate is a 3 hour introductory course aimed at coaches working with U6-U10 children playing recreational soccer. The course exposes coaches to some of the bare essentials involved in coaching young players. The traits of young players are briefly discussed as well as a coaching checklist and loads of appropriate activities. Please bring a ball and come dressed to play.

Prerequisites: Candidates must be 14 years old.

‘Y2’ Certificate $30 members/$130 nonmembers
The ‘Y2’ Certificate is a 3 hour introductory course aimed at coaches working with U10-U14 children playing recreational soccer. Prerequisites: Candidates must be 14 years old.

'F' License Course $25
An on-line course offered through US Soccer's Digital Coaching Center intended for all parents and coaches of youth players. The focus of this grassroots course is to share U.S. Soccer’s best practices in creating a fun, activity-centered and age-appropriate environment for 5-8 year old players. After completion of the online modules, attendance at the last two hours of any Y1 course is highly recommended.

Prerequisites: Candidates must be at least 16 years old.

‘E’ License Course $150 members/$250 nonmembers
The ‘E’ Certificate is an 18-hour course targeted towards coaches teaching U10-U14 players. The course's major focus is preparing coaches to enhance the technical competence of developing players. Dribbling, heading, passing, shooting, receiving and goalkeeping techniques are all addressed, and small-sided match related games are provided for coaches so that they can create an enjoyable, but challenging learning experience for players. Candidates are required to complete pre-course assignments.

Prerequisites: Candidates must be 16 years old and hold a USSF 'F' License

‘D’ License Course $300 members/$400 nonmembers
Beginning January 2013, the ‘D’ License course consists of four phases designed to prepare coaches to  develop coaching competencies for teaching U13 through U14 players. The format of the course is a guided, candidate focused approach and consists of two weekends of practical coaching, instruction and evaluation. Candidates will also complete preparatory assignments and interim training sessions.

Prerequisites: Candidates must be 16 years old and hold an ‘E’ License for a minimum of 6 months.

‘D’ License Upgrade Course $75.00 members/$175 nonmembers
Candidates who earned a 'D' Certificate or a State 'D' and wish to attain a National “D” License, must successfully complete the Performance Review Phase of a 'D' License Course and satisfy all pre course requirements. Pre-registration is required. Upgrade candidates are welcome but not required to attend the Instructional Weekend.

Prerequisites: Candidates must hold a 'D' Certificate or a State 'D' Certificate.
