'D' License Course

Prerequisites: 'E' License (Held for a minimum of 6 months)
Course Length 36 hours classroom and field sessions plus pre course work. The course is spread over a minimum of 10 weeks.

NOTE: This course is for the serious coach who is working with a competitive team playing 11 V 11 soccer!

Cost: $300 (WYSA Members); $400 (Non-Members) Your WYSA issued pass card designates membership. If you don't have a current pass card, register here. A temporary number will be printed on the receipt to be used when registering for the course.

Description: The National 'D' License course is designed for the experienced coach who has already earned a National 'E' license. The focus of this course is to improve a coaches ability to positively influence individual players and teams. The National 'D' License Course is broken up in to four phases.

Preparation Phase: Candidates are required to complete three lesson plans from the Topics List and carryout the trainings and submit a self evaluation form for each of the sessions. Lesson plans must follow the complete progression from Technical Warm-Up, Small-sided Game, Expanded Small-sided and Final Game. Lesson plans are to be carried out with a competitive team playing 11 V 11 soccer!

Instructional Phase: Candidates meet face-to-face with instructors at a course for field and classroom sessions.

Deliberate Practice Phase: Candidates are required to complete three assigned training sessions over a minimum of 10 weeks. Lesson plans must follow the complete progression from Technical Warm-Up, Small-sided Game, Expanded Small-sided and Final Game. It is expected that the sessions be evenly distributed through the 10 week period.

Performance Review Phase: Candidates meet face-to-face with instructors for a final on-field exam.  

Scoring Scale (based on 100 point scale)
70-100 points= National 'D' License
60-69='Provisional Status', formerly 'D' certificate(Can Re-test after 6 months)
59-0= 'Fail' (Retake entire course)

Pre Course Assignments
Preparation Phase:
1. Complete and carryout a lesson plan for three listed topics in the above 'D' License Topics and Themes". Choose 1 Attacking Topic, 1 Defending Topic and 1 Goalkeeping Topic. Lesson plans must follow the complete progression from Technical Warm-Up, Small-sided Game, Expanded Small-sided and Final Game. The team must be playing 11 V 11 soccer!
2. Submit a "Self-Evaluation Form" for each of the sessions. Lesson plans and evaluations must be submitted at least one week prior to the course start date.
3.Candidates are required to view an online presentation and complete a series of questions on Concussion Awareness. Please print your certificate.

Performance Review Phase: Candidate practice coaching topics to be assigned during the Instructional Phase.
1. Complete and carryout 3 lesson plans chosen from the above "'D' License Topics and Themes". Choose 1 Attacking Topic, 1 Defending Topic and 1 Goalkeeping Topic. The team must be playing 11 V 11 soccer.
2. Submit a "Self-Evaluation Form" for each of the sessions. Lesson plans and evaluations must be submitted at least one week prior to the Performance Review Weekend.
