Now Accepting 2012 Mike Kabanica Scholarship Applications
Annually WYSA selects three boys and three girls to be awarded the Mike Kabanica Scholarship. Kabanica served as Wisconsin Soccer Association President for nearly two decades up until his passing in October 1996. The scholarship program is a testament to his legacy to the growth and development of youth soccer in the State of Wisconsin. Applications for the 2012 Mike Kabanica Scholarship are now available. Awardees will be selected based on accomplishments in the classroom and on the soccer field, as well as contributions to their community through volunteerism and other community service activities. Each will receive $500 to be used towards their college education. Click here for the application.
WYSA Announces 2011 Kabanica Scholarship Winners
Each year Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association has the honor of awarding $500 Mike Kabanica Scholarships to three boys and three girls who are graduating seniors. The 2011 winners are:
Angie Berens ( Elm Grove Soccer Club) will be pursuing a degree in physical therapy at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.
Lanae Staab (Stevens Point Soccer Club) intends to pursue degrees in Psychology and Spanish at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin, with a special emphasis on Physical Therapy.
Dana Steffen (Elm Grove Soccer Club) plans on studying for a PhD in Pharmacology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Trenton Daniel Allison (FC Green Bay) has chosen to study Exercise Science, Business and Marketing at University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. He hopes to play Division I soccer there.
Brendan Gruenwald-Schmitz (Lake Geneva Lakers) is planning to seek a degree from either Northwestern University or the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Medical Engineering.
Andrew (A.J.) Schlitt (North Shore United Soccer Club) will pursue a degree in Pharmacy from Lipscomb University. He hopes to play Division I soccer for the Bison in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
The WYSA Kabanica Scholarship is named after the longest serving president in Wisconsin Soccer Association history. This youth scholarship program is a testament to Mike Kabanica’s legacy to the growth and development of soccer in the State of Wisconsin for both youth and adult programs.
