MYSC Wins 2007 Women’s Premier League Championship
Overtime and a Shootout needed to determine the Winner On July 14-15th at USA Sports Complex in Appleton, Wisconsin, the Women’s Premier League held its playoffs. The top eight teams in the league competed for the title of league champion. The championship game was played on Sunday afternoon, between #1 seeded Middleton Yahara Soccer Club (MYSC) and #3 seeded Women’s Soccer Club Majors (WSC). The game was tied 1-1 in regulation time, so two overtime periods of fifteen minutes each were needed to try and break the tie. MYSC scored in the 94th minute by poking the ball past the advancing WSC keeper. Moments later, WSC scored a goal to once again tie the game at 2-2. MYSC finally defeated WSC on penalty kicks in the fourth round by a 2-0 margin. Both keepers recorded two saves in the shoot out. MYSC is coached by Chris Panayiotou and the WSC Majors are coached by John Becker.
